Due to the nature of a working farm, So'Journey Farm B & B is adults-only with a minimum age of 14 welcome. We are a no smoking residence and while there is no TV reception, radio reception is pretty good and DVD/VHS players available.

Below is a photograph of part of the gardens and a wonderful wooden swing in which to relax and enjoy the views of flowering perennials and trees (dogwood, cherry, linden, serviceberry, apple, liriodendron...), and below that is more information about birding, hiking, fishing, retreats and other forms of enjoyment.

Birding, Hiking, Fishing

The spring-fed pond at So'Journey Farm is stocked with channel catfish, bass, crappie and some have even seen perch. We know some fair-sized snapping turtles live there and that migrating wildfowl visit every spring, including shoveler ducks, bufflehead and mallards.

The catfish are particularly easy to catch and are delicious cooked New Orleans style in butter laced with spices. Spending an evening sitting by the pond and fishing is a delightful way to enjoy summers here at So'Journey Farm.

We have some fishing poles for those who forgot to bring one when staying here at the B&B and can almost guarantee that you will catch something.

Blue Heron visit the pond occasionally, flying in from a roosting area located east of the farm, and barn swallows perform their daily acrobatics over the water, eating thousands of insects.

Other birds regularly sighted include bluebirds, yellow warblers, phoebes, wrens, golden finches, house finches, wood thrush, orchard orioles, song sparrows, cowbirds (who sit on the cows heads and eat flies), killdeer, belted kingfisher, hummingbird, and, of course, hawks and turkey vultures.

Audubon has recognized three Important Bird Areas (IBA's) in this part of Pennsylvania, where the serious bird-watcher is likely to see and/or hear birds they won't see elsewhere. Thirty minutes from So'Journey Farm is Enlow Forks, where the annual Wildflower and Bird Walk is held each spring.

This event brings people to the area for the easy hike along the river and the special bird watching, with naturalists accompanying small groups of hikers to explain the natural phenomenon surrounding them.

There is an Audubon map of Enlow Forks that you can enlarge at the bottom of this page.

Below is a photograph of a red-shouldered hawk. These hawks often nest on the edges of wooded land near a pond or stream.

A large State Game Lands abuts So'Journey Farm on the south side of Bristoria Road and trails and roads invite visitors and hikers to explore the deeper woods and savannah fields of Greene County. In fall this Game Lands is open to hunters as well.

Hikes on the farm can be short excursions to explore the animals, pastures, pond, House Run stream, barn or chickens. Longer hikes can include behind the farm house to the ridge top, with an elevation rise of 200 ft., through woods and pasture, or up hollows where historic spring houses and log cabins still reside.

The historic Warrior Trail passes through Greene County less than 10 minutes from So'Journey Farm.

Artists' Retreats

True country, with its quiet beauty and unhurried pace, is a perfect place to tap into one's creativity. There are opportunities year round for exquisite photography, painting and fiber crafts. Historic barns, farm animals, wildlife, flowers, the pond and general vistas are the classic picturesque subjects that spur the artist to create, and they exist here in abundance.

We will help organize these artists' retreats for you and occasionally have our own on the website that you might enjoy. The farm sleeps 6 singles comfortably, or 9 for those who enjoy cuddling! Ryerson State Park is 6 miles down the road and has camping facilities as well.

Spiritual retreats are also encouraged here at So'Journey Farm, in keeping with our name, we believe that beauty and oneness with Nature helps us to find our "place" in God's Creation.

Special arrangements can be made to provide lunches, both bagged and sit down, and dinners for those attending workshops and retreats, with special effort made to use locally grown, sustainable food. Fee schedule available upon request. Contact:
